Chest — transformice

A chest is a consumable that gives a random reward (title, badge, orb, shop item or emoji) from a previous event.

Each chest has an inventory limit of 5.

Chests stay in your inventory forever (i.e. they do not disappear at the end of the event).

The current chest system was added with the Christmas 2019 event on 13 December 2019. The event-specific chests can be bought when their event is running for 50. The global event chest can be bought in every event and costs 5 (i.e. 250).

Tip: Only buy red tickets for the global event chest after getting all 50-golden-ticket chests from the current event, all Indiana Mouse rewards in village, and saving 500 golden tickets (the max) for the next event.

History

Chests were first introduced in October 2017 for a limited number of new French accounts, to carry out a blind experiment between two groups of new accounts: accounts with the regular shop and accounts with chests. The goal was to see if the chest players played longer and came back more often than non-chest players.

The chest system was introduced because there were too many shop items and furs for a new player to choose from. In addition, players had to play for a lot of hours before they could buy a nice item and that put off a lot of new players. With the chest system, the administrators wanted to limit the flood of information and be able to give away some items for free much earlier in the life of a new player, to encourage them to stay and play longer.

If the results were conclusive, everyone would have been switched to this new system. Returning players would have kept any items and furs they had purchased, but new content would have been placed in this chest system, with themed chests given out during events.

In the end, Atelier 801 decided not to switch to this chest system.

In chest accounts, the chests replaced the shop - you were not able to buy any items except chests. The shop was therefore renamed wardrobe. Chests were randomly awarded for free and could also be purchased for 250 or 50 . You would get a chest notification on the bottom left of the screen. Clicking the notification displayed the chest on grass and opening the chest showed the 3 items you were awarded. Items awarded included consumables, shop items, furs, orbs and badges. There were 5 different rarities, with each rarity having a color associated with it. If you were awarded a fur, you wouldn't get the fur badge.

If you open a chest and already own all of the chest's rewards, you get 40.

During the 10th Anniversary event, all chests were available to buy.
The first Lua event to have chests was Rabbit's Skull Archipelago 2022.
Children's Day rewards are in the Back to School chest, Greenhouse rewards are in the Vegetable Garden chest, and Ninja rewards are in the Rain chest.
