Follow the tips in this style guide to help keep the Transformice Wiki easy to read. For fundamental wiki editing guidelines, see also Wikipedia's Manual of Style (simplified). This style guide may be used to adjudicate editing style disagreements between users. For anything not outlined here, please use common sense, and don't make large changes without community consensus.
Basic guidelines
- Use headings to organize topics so they can be hyperlinked more easily.
- For series pages, use matching headings to arrange content in a consistent format.
- Do not copy information directly from other websites.
- All articles should be written from a neutral point of view; articles should not contain opinions (e.g., obviously, unfortunately, surprisingly, fortunately, luckily) nor words such as I, my, or we.
- This is an English wiki; do not write anything in a language other than English.
- This wiki formats numbers using commas for a thousands separator, and periods for a decimal point.
Writing
In terms of English reading level, the audience for this wiki includes young children as well as readers who speak English as a secondary language. Make articles easy to understand by using simple words and short sentences where possible.
Otherwise, refer to the style guidelines outlined by Wikipedia's Manual of Style.
Formatting
Dates
Use the European day before month format (1 May 2010) for dates, in keeping with Transformice official standard. (Atelier 801 is based in France and the United Kingdom, and chooses this date format for their forum).
Numbers
For displaying numbers, this wiki separates thousands with a comma and marks decimal points with a period (e.g. 1,073.59).
Manual of Style
This is the Manual of Style for the Transformice Wiki.
- Key: Correct ✔ Incorrect ✘
Grammar
- Do not use any slang or abbreviations on articles, unless the official name of an article is abbreviated.
- Melibellule is bad at wall jumping ✔
- Meli is bad at wj ✘
- The village is the place to be ✔
- The village is the place 2 b ✘
- All mentions of games should be italicized. Transformice should always be written as Transformice. You can italicize by adding at the front and back of the game title. If you use punctuation, it should not be italicized.
- Do not capitalize every word in a sentence. Conjunctions, prepositions and definite articles shouldn't be capitalized either, unless the game capitalizes them.
- New Fashion Squad outfits come every Tuesday ✔
- New fashion squad outfits come every Tuesday ✘
- New Fashion Squad Outfits come Every Tuesday ✘
- When adding dates in, make sure you use the full date, year included. The date must be in the DMY format. Also don't include an ordinal indicator.
- 21 May 2018 ✔
- May 21, 2018 ✘
- 21 May ✘
- 21st May 2018 ✘
- 21/5/18 ✘
- If something is no longer in Transformice, remember to change the wording of the article to past tense.
- Make sure to add punctuation at the end of every sentence.
- When using apostrophes, make sure to use ' instead of ’.
- If you have a list of three or more items, make sure to use an Oxford comma before the conjunction in the list.
Titles
- Titles should be in singular form, not plural.
- Article titles should always use an official name, not a fan-made one. If you are wondering where to find the official names, see the language files.
- If two or more articles have the same name, use parenthesis to distinguish them from each other. Make sure to not capitalize the word in the parenthesis, unless its official title is capitalized.
Article layout
Hatnotes
- A hatnote helps readers locate a different article if the one they are at is not the one they're looking for.
- Place hatnotes at the top of the article or section, above any amboxes and infoboxes.
Amboxes
- If an article contains an ambox (article message box), it should always be at the top of an article.
- If an article has no infobox, make sure to separate the ambox and the article text into different lines.
Stub
Christmas, also known as Winter, is a holiday which commonly has events in Transformice.
- If an article is missing information, make sure to label it as a Stub. Do not label an article as a stub if it's just short. Short articles aren't stubs.
- If an article does not comply with the Manual of Style and needs a cleanup, label it as Cleanup.
- If an article is too long to finish or is currently undergoing change and an update, label it as Construction.
- If an article has been protected, label it as Protected.
- If an article is about a real life person or thing, label it as Real life.
- If an article is poorly written, label it as Rewrite.
- If an article is out of date, label it as Update.
- If the content of an article is no longer in Transformice, label it as Historical.
- If the content of an article is supposed to come out in the future, label it as Future.
Other templates
- If you are inserting a quote into an article, use this Quote. Make sure it goes below the infobox, but before the article text.
Infoboxes
- Infoboxes should be placed right under amboxes. If an article doesn't contain an ambox, the infobox should be at the top.
- If there are multiple answers in a field, avoid using "and" or "&".
- |games=Transformice<br />Bouboum<br />Nekodancer ✔
- |games=Transformice, Bouboum & Nekodancer ✘
- |games=Transformice & Bouboum & Nekodancer ✘
- |games=Transformice, Bouboum and Nekodancer ✘
- Infoboxes should be laid out in order.

end = 8 July 2021
previous = Rain 2021
next = Fishing 2021
}}

- If a link is used after the first word of a sentence, the word(s) in the link should not capitalized unless it is a proper noun.
Article tables
- All article tables should use "wikitable".
- There should a space {| and class.
- Do not put |- between the class and exclamation points as it is useless code.
- Do not bold the words after the exclamation point as the exclamation point already does that.
- Here is an example of it should be laid out:
Reward
Requirement
Heartbreaker new
Collect 50 potions
Other sections
- Make sure to leave a space between each section.
- If an article needs more information, you're always welcomed to add more sections.
- If you use bullet points, do not add spaces between the bullet point and the fact.
